Rehabilitation Center For Women
Precious Hearts Haven, is a registered NGO in Zimbabwe who are working towards reducing and elimination of sexual and gender based violence against women and girls from marginalized communities in Zimbabwe. It was extremely important to build a safe place that will accept women and girls who are survivors of of such crimes and provide them with temporary shelter away from the abusers.
Understanding Sentiment of the Community
At Safe Haven each day begins with a motivational session to inspire and charge all residents for the day. The vocational trainings from 9am to 12pm help to formulate workshop spaces for skill development. Theraputic activities such as farming, meditation, and amphitheater governed the spaces needed for healing.
Design Approach
The curvilinear walls and open spaces provided phycological comfort to the resident by avoiding isolating corners.
Skylights and native plants create a positive ventilated positive environment
The materials and design reflected the indigenous architecture to provide a sense familiarity.
Impact
The built environmental of the campus will psychologically impact women during their time of transition. The environment also plays a role in the perception of connection or separation from public life and their sense of community. The design of the shelter is aesthetically pleasing and incorporates the vernacular roots so as to be inclusive for women of all financial and social circumstances.

The core idea in design was to have a positive phycological impact on residents and enable healing through built environment.
Peace, Justice And Strong Institutions
The encouragement and support provided to victims through the institution enabled justice and peace through active helping of community.
